Walmart stock went up $0.6 to $79.66 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The retailer said it will use its vast network of more than 6,500 stores and 1.2 million associates to build a new “smart grocery” system that will streamline its delivery process.
The announcement comes just days after Microsoft announced it had struck a deal to buy $9 billion worth of Microsoft Corp. software for its cloud services.
Walmart stock was up 1.1% on Monday.
Microsoft shares were up 3.1%.
